Children of New Horizons Orphanage

The children of the New Horizons orphanage singing in thanks for our visit and donations of school benches and various other items. This was an eye-opening and emotional experience for everyone. The blanket was crocheted by the Boys in front of it.

Building benches

Ezra, Jack, David, Jonas, Mario and Kat cut wood for school desks/benches this morning at the “Haitian Queen” aka Touch Global’s Haiti HQ while others spent time at New Horizons orphanage. We met up later at New Horizons for games, bench-building, art projects, soccer and conversation. Kat also found a climbing wall built by a former volunteer (bonus!) and one member of the group climbed a coconut tree. We enjoyed the chance to try coconut milk and get to know some of the children in the neighborhood!

Flat tire

Oops–flat tire! We stopped here to get a new one and Kat and Jonas prayed over it–so far so good!

Love the Children

Yesterday we visited Operation Love the Children, a local orphanage. We will return today to build a new table for the school there. The children were beautiful – 54 in total. Here, some of the girls are modeling dresses sent from the Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha’s Vineyard.
