S. Kathryn Townes
The Rev. S. Kathryn Townes recently joined the ministry team at Central Congregational Church as the Associate Minister for Youth and Mission. She lives with her husband Royce, also a UCC minister, and two amazing kids—10-year-old Royce and 8-year-old Madison.
Kat believes that the Church is the living Body of Christ, and she cherishes the opportunity to walk with people as they discover their gifts and find new ways to connect to themselves, God, and others.
Kat is also a total Bible geek who loves putting our sacred texts into dialog with our daily lives. When she’s not playing Bible Trivia on her iPhone, Kat enjoys rock climbing and hiking. She especially loves geocaching and going on adventures with her two dogs (the cats prefer adventures in the basement). She spent several years working as a backpacking guide and camp director in Southwest Colorado and continues to draw from her wilderness experiences in her ministry.
Kat’s church experiences include teaching youth and adult Sunday school classes, participating in pastoral care, preaching and planning worship, facilitating youth groups and leading spiritual retreats. She also spent extended time overseas, doing service work, teaching, and promoting social justice.
