Rick’s Roadhouse – Ilse Kramer

Rick’s Roadhouse

By Ilse Kramer

The friendly servers bring
Us food, and we like everything.

The dining room is dark and cozy,
And our future looks quite rosy.

The meat we eat is mostly grilled,
And our cups are quickly filled.

The longish blue table
Is uneven yet stable.

A roll of towels does quite simply
(nothing frilly)

Make a place mat, napkin, even tissue,
The laundry room is not an issue.

We are so full that we can’t eat a cookie or piece of cake,
Although the cook knows how to bake.

Our leader is a theologue,
We take some food home for the dog.
