When Patrick Aiken came to Central in 1993, he brought with him the belief that the role of church music is to inspire people to deeper faith.  He restored many of Central’s best-loved music traditions that had fallen away over the years - while simultaneously establishing the ambitious, inspirational, and engaging music program that has brought Central distinction throughout southern New England.

Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in church music from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., and his master’s from Manhattan School of Music in New York City.  His teachers have included John Walker and Raymond Ocock. Frequently in demand as a freelance organist, he has performed throughout New England, as well as at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Riverside Church in New York.  He has also traveled abroad, playing at Winchester Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

In addition to his work at Central, Patrick serves a Roman Catholic parish as well as two synagogues.  And, he is a licensed pilot!  Patrick and his husband live in West Greenwich, R.I.

Rondie Almeida – known as Ron – joined the Central staff at the end of November 2022 as our part-time sexton. You’ll find him puttering around the church on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 8 am and 1 pm – though these hours may change slightly from week to week depending on the work that needs to be done.

Ron is a life-long resident of Rhode Island. He was a police officer for 20 years and came out of retirement just to work at Central! Ron and his wife Susie have been married for more than 25 years; they have five children and six grandchildren. In his free time, Ron enjoys fishing, playing guitar, and coaching football. He is also an avid tea drinker. Be sure to look for him the next time you’re at Central during the week.
