When Should I Arrive?

Sunday Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. September through June. 10:00 a.m. during the summer.  Feel free to arrive earlier - for quiet time in our sanctuary, to hear the beautiful organ prelude, or to enjoy a cup of coffee and meet some of our members!

What Should I Wear?

Sunday Worship is welcoming and friendly.  We are a church for people from all walks of life.  Some members of our congregation dress up for Worship.  Others prefer “business casual.”  Please wear whatever is most comfortable for you.

How Do I Get There?

Central is located at 296 Angell Street on the East Side of Providence - near Brown University and Wheeler School.  You can enter the church on Angell Street or through our side entrance on Diman Place, which has wheelchair access.  Our ushers will show you where to go from there.

Where Do I Park?

On-street parking is available near the church on Angell Street, Diman Place, and Stimson Avenue.  You will find handicapped parking on Diman.

In addition, Wheeler School Parking, only a block away, is available to us for Sunday morning services.  It is across from the school at 216 Hope Street. To reach Central, exit on the far end and walk across the Hamilton House backyard.

What’s The Worship Service Like?

Worship at Central is thoughtful, music-filled, inspiring, and challenging.  The service is “user-friendly” and comfortable. You will leave feeling enriched and closer to God - with some ideas to think about and guidance to help you get through the week ahead.

Can I Share In Communion?

Yes.  When we take communion together, it strengthens our faith commitment and sense of community.  If you find meaning in this sacrament, you are welcome to join us - regardless of your faith or church membership.  We serve communion on the first Sunday of every liturgical season and at other special times of the year.

How Do I Meet People?

First of all, let us know you’re here.  Fill out the card that’s available in every pew, and place it in the offertory plate.  Tell us what you’re looking for, or if you have any particular needs.  Our senior minister will reach out to you right away.

After Worship, visit our Welcome Table at the entrance to Chapel Hall.  (Just follow the crowd headed to coffee hour!)  There’s always someone there to tell you more about Central and our upcoming events - and to introduce you around.  And, of course, please stay for refreshments and fellowship.

How Can I Get Involved?

You don’t have to be a member to get involved with the missions and activities at Central.  There are dozens to choose from!  Plus, we need your talents and energy.  If something interests you, you are welcome to volunteer or sit in.  Long-term commitments not required!

Do You Have Child Care?

School-age children - preschoolers through eighth graders - are welcome to go to Church School while you are at Sunday Worship.  Children attend the service with their parents and stay through “Children’s Time” before heading to class.

We also offer childcare in our Cherub Nursery for infants and toddlers up to three years old. But you are welcome to keep your little one with you, if you prefer.  We only ask that, if your child becomes fussy, you take him or her out to Chapel Hall.  The service is piped in, so you won’t miss a thing.

Looking For More?

Consider membership.  We hold informal “Inquirers’ Meetings” three times a year.  There’s no commitment involved.  Just a chance to meet with our senior minister, Patrick Faulhaber, and others like you who think Central may be the right place for them. Learn more...
