CCC Youth Reunion

Saturday, Dec. 24, 12 midnight

We’re reviving a long-standing holiday tradition. Young adults and older teens are invited to stay after the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service to reconnect with old friends. They’ll enjoy refreshments, share what’s happening in their lives, and reflect on favorite memories of Central. We’ll get together in the Fireplace Room.

Celtic Advent Calendars

This colorful advent calendar reminds us to practice grace in our lives, providing ideas every day from Nov. 15 to Jan. 6 – and they’re free for the taking! Pick up one or more at the Welcome Table in Chapel Hall. It’s a lovely gift and great way to share your faith! Questions? Ask Claudia.

Christmas Pageant Dress Rehearsal

Saturday, Dec. 17, 10:30 am

Each year, Central’s first through sixth graders reenact the Christmas story as only children can. They’ll tell of Mary and Joseph’s travel to Bethlehem and Jesus’ humble birth in the manger – celebrated by choirs of angels, shepherds, and mysterious Wise Ones bearing precious gifts. Invite your extended family and friends to Worship for this year’s performance on Dec. 18!

Grandfriends Day Celebration

Sunday, Dec. 11, 11:30 am

We are celebrating Grandfriends Day with an intergenerational event. We will decorate Christmas cookies and make all sorts of crafts. Think “stained-glass” stars, votive candleholders, and ornaments. All activities that children and adults can do together. Please invite friends, neighbors, and family members to join us for an event designed to bring comfort and joy to all generations. Join us in Chapel Hall.

Children’s Choir Rehearsal

Monday, Nov 28, 5 pm

Central’s Children’s Choir is back! It’s open to children in grades three through eight. No experience is required; only a desire to sing and enjoy music. We encourage choristers to bring a friend since it’s more fun to sing with pals. Children need not be church members; we welcome singers from all faith communities. If you have questions, contact organist/choirmaster Patrick Aiken.

Family Advent Packets

Available throughout Advent

Once again, we have Advent Packets to help families celebrate the holidays. They include readings and prayers for each week of Advent, prayers for blessing the Christmas tree and crèche, craft ideas, suggestions for acts of kindness, and interesting facts about Jesus’ birth as well as our celebration of His birth. Pick up your packet in the Church School wing on Sundays or in the church office during the week.

Lunch At Gregg’s Restaurant

Sunday, Nov. 27, 12 noon

Join Central friends old and new to celebrate the end of a joyous Thanksgiving weekend. RSVP to Claudia. You can check out Gregg’s extensive, family-friendly menu at www.greggsusa.com/Menu/Daily-Specials, and don’t forget to leave room for their world-famous cake (like Death by Chocolate)! We’ll meet at Gregg’s: 1303 North Main St., Providence.

Grand Opening of Chapel Hall

Friday, Nov. 18, 5:30 pm

You are cordially invited to an Open House to celebrate the completion of Central’s reimagined Chapel Hall and Gallery. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. RSVP to Antonia Greco (401-331-1960 / antonia@ centralchurch.us). The Campaign to Reimagine Chapel Hall has raised $1 million, with $250,000 to go! Please consider a gift to celebrate this monumental achievement (www.centralchurch.us/reimagining-chapel-hall)

Snack Brigade

Sundays in November

Every Sunday in November, following worship, the Mission & Action Committee will deliver fruit and individually wrapped snacks to Crossroads as part of our biannual Snack Brigade (formerly, Sandwich Brigade). Please sign up during coffee hour if you can make a food donation (oranges, bananas, cookies, crackers, or other snacks). And when you bring items to church, just leave them in the designated boxes in the coatroom.

R.I. Association Annual Meeting

Sunday, Nov. 13, 2 pm

Central will host the 2022 Annual Meeting for the Rhode Island Association of the UCC. After worship, we will approve the budget, review officer nominations, and discuss new business. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Chris S. Davies, Southern New England Conference’s new Executive Minister for Programs and Initiatives. Please plan to join your siblings in faith from across Rhode Island!
