Commissioning CCC Youth

Sunday, July 10, 10 am

This Sunday we will recognize and commission our high school teens before they to head out on their July 16 mission trip to Rainelle, W. Va. Commissioning not only lets Central youth know they are doing God’s work outside the walls of the church – that they are part of something bigger than themselves – it also allows our entire congregation to understand and feel connected to the work CCC Youth will be doing in northern Appalachia.

Ice Cream Sundae Sunday

Sunday, July 3, 11 am

I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream! Especially in the middle of summer. Plan to stay after Worship for Ice Cream Sundae Sunday. We’ll provide
the ice cream.  Please bring some toppings to share! Remember, everything tastes better on ice cream. Need suggestions? Try chocolate syrup, sprinkles, fresh fruit, chopped up cookies or candy bars, whipped cream, maraschino cherries … the sky’s the limit.  See you in Chapel Hall!

Accolades

Congratulations to John Azar, Oscar Punchak, Miles Rardin – lifelong Centralites – and three other members of Central-sponsored Scout Troop 28 who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout and were recognized at a Court of Honor held May 22! Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in the Scouts BSA program. Since 1911, only four percent of all Scouts have earned this rank.

There will be a bounce house, monster truck, games, prizes, raffles, vendors – including $1 haircuts, braids, and nails – concessions, performances, and even a surprise guest! Olney Street Baptist Church is at 100 Olney Street in Providence.

Children’s Sunday

Sunday, June 12,10:30 am

This Sunday, the church school will celebrate the end of the program year. The children will help lead the Worship service. Third and fourth graders will receive their Bibles, and we will recognize our graduating high school seniors. Please come and join in this day of celebration, joy, and gratitude. And after the service, please stay for the Church Picnic.

Confirmation

June 3, 6 pm / June 5, 9 am

This weekend, the confirmation class reaches its final summit. The confirmands have written their faith reflections and will share them with their families at a celebration dinner on Friday, June 3 in Chapel Hall. On Sunday, June 5, the confirmands will enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared for them by the Board of Deacons. They will then lead the Worship service and be confirmed. Please stay after for the annual meeting and luncheon and personally greet our new members!

Kindness Matters!

Kindness always matters.  Perhaps never more than with what’s happening in the world today.  That’s why Central’s Board of Deacons have created oval car signs – available as magnets and stickers – bearing this important message:  To celebrate our wonderful and welcoming church, invite others to join us, and communicate our core values.  Pick up one or two in Chapel Hall after Sunday Worship or in the Church Office during the week. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to come to Worship on Sunday mornings and see every car bearing this message of caring and hope?

Reimagining Chapel Hall

As we launch Phase III of our capital campaign, we can announce that Central has received pledges and gifts totaling $1 million! While Chapel Hall is not finished, people already stand and gaze in awe, taking in each thoughtful change. It’s amazing what inspired design applied to “good bones,” abundant light, and the beauty of natural wood and soft colors will do! If you need a spark of joy, come see for yourself.  And help us reach our goal of $1.25 million!

Honor and Remember

Sunday, May 29, 10:30 am

At our traditional Memorial Day worship service (also the Seventh Sunday of Easter), we will honor the men and women who have bravely served our country.  Join us for worship and senior minister Rebecca Spencer’s sermon “Freedom, Care and Civilization.”
