Reports from our Youth Mission Team

CLICK HERE to read up-to-date posts and see photos from this year’s Youth Mission Team and their July 7-14 trips. One trip begins in Cleveland, where you’ll see them doing service projects with students from all over New England. They also visit the UCC Headquarters in Cleveland. The other group begins their service projects in Maine, with the Maine Seacoast Mission’s Housing Repair Program. Both groups come together for the National Youth Event at Purdue University in Indiana. The National Youth Event, held every four years, provides an opportunity for over 3000 youth (ages 13 to 18) to gather for worship, workshops, faith, fun and fellowship.[Read More]

Please take a look at this great video that showcases our ongoing mission to New Orleans.

This was our fifth trip to help rebuild that wonderful city after Hurricane Katrina left 80% of it underwater in 2005. This year twenty-nine of us worked in three teams on two houses and Beecher Memorial Church!

Elaine Pagels to Speak at Central January 6th

INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED RELIGIOUS SCHOLAR ELAINE PAGELS WILL DISCUSS “REVELATIONS, VISIONS, PROPHECY, AND POLITICS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION” IN A LECTURE AT CENTRAL CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.

Princeton Professor Elaine Pagels will explore what she views as the strangest and most controversial book of the Bible – The Book of Revelation – in a lecture Friday, January 6 at Central Congregational Church in Providence. The 6 p.m. event is free and open to the public.

Emergency Clean-Up Bucket Appeal

Wondering what you can do to help nearby Massachusetts in the aftermath of the tornadoes which have devastated 19 communities there?  Church World Service has issued an urgent appeal for Emergency Clean-Up Buckets filled with the necessary supplies for cleaning after such a disaster.

The Rhode Island Conference is joining the Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont Conferences in an effort to collect as many of these much-needed buckets as possible.
