We still have oval car signs available – magnets and stickers – to celebrate our wonderful and welcoming church, invite others to join us, and communicate our core values. There are two designs each bearing Central’s website address:  “CCC” and “Kindness Matters.”  Pick up one or two in Chapel Hall after Sunday Worship or in the Church Office – and help us spread our message of caring and hope!

HopeHealth, one of New England’s largest hospice, palliative, and home care organizations, has named Bob Iovino-Zuniga Volunteer of the Year. Bob learned about HopeHealth when his partner Ken was in hospice care and eventually trained as a HopeHealth volunteer, offering companionship and respite visits to hospice patients for more than a decade. Two years ago, he started facilitating HopeHealth’s biweekly LGBTQ+ Grief Support Group. Congratulations, Bob!

Choose from 200 flavors – both hard and soft serve – as well as carb-friendly and sugar-free options.  Nothing is better on a hot day.  Plus, there’s something about ice cream that makes you feel like a kid again.  We’ll meet outside at the picnic tables, near the playground. Hamilton House presents a program of traditional and original folk music performed by award-winning Rhode Island musician Aubrey Atwater on Appalachian mountain dulcimer.  Her unique and thrilling blend of traditional American and Celtic folk music comes with moving stories from her life and musical journey. She not only has recorded extensively, but also has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Ireland, England, and Canada.

Brown graduate student John Nicklas was profiled in the Brown Daily Herald on Feb. 24. John – a second-year medical student on leave from the Alpert Medical School – is also enrolled in a self-designed Ph.D. program focused on planetary health (interdisciplinary studies that link human health and health of earth’s natural systems and resources) He currently is working mitigation techniques for groups vulnerable to diseases as a result of climate change.  Congratulations, John!

This month, Hamilton House presents guitarist Scott Hacker and The Domani Trio. Scott has performed with The Boston Classical Guitar Society Orchestra. Connecticut Guitar Ensemble, as well as other groups. The concert features Scott’s solo work, as well as ensemble performances with musicians Ian Maysmith and Paul Norton. We’re looking for volunteers to help clean up the landscaped areas surrounding Central so we’ll be all ready for the Annual Church Picnic on Sunday. Summer Worship begins next week. There are no major changes; services will just begin a half-hour earlier, leaving more time for you and your family to enjoy summer Sundays. Next week also will bring changes to our usual church school routine. We are introducing special summer programming that will enable Central children to engage with the Bible in new and different ways.

Central’s group for young adults in college through their early thirties – called Conversation, Contemplation, and Christ … aka C3 – meets virtually, so you can join from wherever you may be. We’ll talk about faith, the intersection of current events and our beliefs, living as a Christian, and whatever else is on your mind. Meetings last about an hour. Contact Judy for a Zoom invitation.

This is your last chance to see the “Recent Paintings” of Michele Mennucci. The Gallery committee will be hanging a new exhibit on June 7.  Michele’s work – primarily oils and acrylics – features saturated colors with rich textures, as well as brilliant light and deep dark areas. A native Rhode Islander, Michele has spent summers in Dennisport since childhood, capturing some of her favorite Cape Cod locations on canvas.
