Church School Teachers Needed
The Religious Education committee is seeking volunteers to teach Church School since we are starting out the year without a director of children and youth. The committee has a curriculum in place, space to gather, and all the crafting supplies anyone could need. All we need is you, a little time, and a loving heart. If you can help, please contact committee co-chairs Caroline Hunter or Susannah Mozley Hopkins.
Brunch/Lunch at Caspian Sea
Sunday, Sep. 3, 11:30 am
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with friends over authentic Mediterranean cuisine – think falafel and stuffed grape leaves – as well as classic brunch fare – like omelets and pancakes. Check out the menu at this Fox Point eatery (https://caspian-wickenden.com/menu/) and RSVP to Claudia. Then join us at the Caspian Sea (239 Wickenden Street, Providence) for good food and great conversation.
Church School Summer Activities
Sunday, Sept. 3, 10 am
Summer brings changes to our usual church school routine. We have introduced special summer programming that will enable Central children to engage with Bible stories in new and different ways. There may be an art activity one week, an active game another week, and a dramatic retelling of the story another week. By creatively interacting with the Bible, children will experience its teachings in more personal ways.
Gail Esposito: “The Art of Color”
Summer 2023
This summer, The Gallery features abstract paintings – all acrylics – by Gail Esposito in a show entitled “The Art of Color.” Gail mixes all of her own colors and uses a liquid-art technique and a variety of finishing processes. This brush-free method results in a myriad of vibrant colors and shapes. Each piece is meant to be hung flush against the wall, in whatever direction most appeals to the owner. August Office Hours
Throughout the month of August, the Church Office will close at 4 pm. In addition, the office will be closed all day on Monday, Aug. 14, for Victory Day. If you have any questions, please contact Antonia Greco, church administrator: 401-331-1960 / antonia@centralchurch.us
Hats off to Daniel Rogers!
Thanks to the generosity of so many Central members, as well as others in our community, Scout Troop 28 – led by Eagle Scout Daniel Rogers – assembled more than 200 hot-weather kits for unhoused people in Providence. They distributed the kits in early June – once again proving that “Kindness Matters.” Central is proud to be the sponsoring organization of Troop 28.
