Summer Worship
Sunday, June 18, 10 am
Summer Worship begins next week. There are no major changes; services will just begin a half-hour earlier, leaving more time for you and your family to enjoy summer Sundays. Next week also will bring changes to our usual church school routine. We are introducing special summer programming that will enable Central children to engage with the Bible in new and different ways.
C3 @ CCC
Sunday, June 4, 5 pm
Central’s group for young adults in college through their early thirties – called Conversation, Contemplation, and Christ … aka C3 – meets virtually, so you can join from wherever you may be. We’ll talk about faith, the intersection of current events and our beliefs, living as a Christian, and whatever else is on your mind. Meetings last about an hour. Contact Judy for a Zoom invitation.
The Gallery
May 29 to June 4
This is your last chance to see the “Recent Paintings” of Michele Mennucci. The Gallery committee will be hanging a new exhibit on June 7. Michele’s work – primarily oils and acrylics – features saturated colors with rich textures, as well as brilliant light and deep dark areas. A native Rhode Islander, Michele has spent summers in Dennisport since childhood, capturing some of her favorite Cape Cod locations on canvas.
Confirmation Celebration Dinner
Friday, May 26, 6:30 pm
Central’s 2023 confirmands will commemorate their yearlong journey of spiritual discovery with family and friends at a Celebration Dinner in Chapel Hal. They will present their faith stories– discussing what it means to be a person of faith in the 21st century both within and outside of the church – as well as their doubts, areas of confusion, and understanding of the Christian way of life.
Lunch At Gregg’s Restaurant
Sunday, May 21, 12 noon
Join Central friends old and new after Worship for good conversation and delicious food at Gregg’s, a Rhode Island tradition for 50 years. Check out the extensive, family-friendly menu (www.greggsusa.com/Menu/Daily-Specials) and RSVP to Claudia. We’ll meet at Gregg’s (1303 North Main Street, Providence).
Banjo Concert and Reception
Friday, May 12, 12:30 pm
Central and Hamilton House will co-host a concert and farewell reception for Central members Rick and Roxana Sasse, who are moving to the New Jersey shore. Entertainment will be courtesy of Rick’s Good Tymes Banjo Band, which performs Tin Pan Alley favorites from the twenties through the early fifties. Please bring your favorite dessert to share – and say good-bye in style. We’ll be in Chapel Hall.
