Soup Kitchen Volunteers

Wednesday, Feb 1, 6:30 am

Every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 am, Central volunteers meet in the Amos House kitchen to assemble pre-packaged breakfasts. We know it’s early, but we really need more volunteers. If you can help, please contact Tracy Baran (tmoorf@gmail.com) and join us at 460 Pine Street in Providence. Since 1976, Amos House has helped people help themselves out of oppression, homelessness, and poverty through vital services and results-oriented programs.

Crossroads Snack Brigade

Sunday, Jan. 29, 10:30 am

This is the final week of our January Snack Brigade. Central will deliver fresh fruit and pre-packaged snacks to Crossroads Rhode Island, since they don’t have Sunday food service for their more than 200 clients. If you’ve signed up to donate food, please leave it in the designated boxes in the coatroom. Thanks for your generous contributions! And remember: the Snack Brigade will be back in July.

Budget and Bylaws Meeting

Sunday, Jan. 29, 11:30 am

Your presence and input are crucial to the annual Tentative Budget Approval Meeting. The budget determines what we can accomplish as a church during the coming fiscal year. We’ll also present proposed amendments to the Central bylaws and share updates on church initiatives. Plus, we will have special activities for children so parents are free to attend the meeting – in Chapel Hall after worship.

A Time of Service

Sunday, Jan. 21, 11:30 am

Take time with others to feel God’s love and to put His love into action. Join us in Chapel Hall immediately after Sunday Worship for crafts and activities that reach out to people both within and outside our church community.  We’ll make prayer rocks, cards of caring, welcome bookmarks, origami peace cranes – and assemble bags for unhoused individuals. Questions?  Contact Judy.

Countdown to $1.25 Million

As of mid-December 2022, The Campaign to Reimagine Chapel Hall has raised more than $1,030,000 of its $1.25 million goal. Please consider a gift to celebrate this great achievement. Gifts may be made on the Central website, via pledge card, or by calling Antonia Greco, at 401-331-1960 – and fulfilled over three years.

Epiphany Fest

Saturday, Jan. 7, 10 am

Calling all Wise Ones … or those who wish to be one. We’re celebrating Epiphany, the Magi’s arrival in Jerusalem to pay homage to Baby Jesus. We’ll make crowns and stars, go on a “long journey” following a star … and enjoy refreshments along the way. While designed for children, Centralites of all ages are encouraged to attend. Join us in the Fireplace Room!
