Kindness Matters!

Kindness always matters.  Perhaps never more than with what’s happening in the world today.  That’s why Central’s Board of Deacons have created oval car signs – available as magnets and stickers – bearing this important message:  To celebrate our wonderful and welcoming church, invite others to join us, and communicate our core values.  Pick up one or two in Chapel Hall after Sunday Worship or in the Church Office during the week. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to come to Worship on Sunday mornings and see every car bearing this message of caring and hope?

Reimagining Chapel Hall

As we launch Phase III of our capital campaign, we can announce that Central has received pledges and gifts totaling $1 million! While Chapel Hall is not finished, people already stand and gaze in awe, taking in each thoughtful change. It’s amazing what inspired design applied to “good bones,” abundant light, and the beauty of natural wood and soft colors will do! If you need a spark of joy, come see for yourself.  And help us reach our goal of $1.25 million!

Honor and Remember

Sunday, May 29, 10:30 am

At our traditional Memorial Day worship service (also the Seventh Sunday of Easter), we will honor the men and women who have bravely served our country.  Join us for worship and senior minister Rebecca Spencer’s sermon “Freedom, Care and Civilization.”

Annual Meeting / Luncheon

Sunday, June 5, 11:30 am

Put this on your calendar:  The 170th Annual Meeting and Luncheon will begin at 11:30 am, after Worship. We’ll provide childcare / creative programming for children during the meeting.  Luncheon will immediately follow at 12:15 pm in Chapel Hall.  We’ll be serving your choice of rotisserie chicken salad, tuna salad, or egg salad, fresh greens, pasta salad, rolls, and strawberry shortcake.  Your hosts will be Mary Francis Bishop, Caroline Considine, and Mark McLaughlin.  Luncheon tickets are $15 per person.  Please mail your reservation and check (payable to: Central Congregational Church) to the Church Office by May 31.

Yard Sale Central

Saturday, May 21, 9 am to 2 pm

Our spring fundraiser is finally here.  You can preview yard sale items right on this website.  Just click on This Week / Yard Sale Central.  Remember, 30 percent of the proceeds will benefit Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Haiti relief organizations. And, CCC Youth will be selling refreshments to raise money for their summer mission trip to Appalachia.  Tell your family and friends.  Or better yet … bring them!

Mission Trip Volunteers

We are looking for adults to join our CCC Youth summer mission trip team for what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  We’ll be traveling to Rainelle, W.Va., – in Appalachia – from July 16 to 22. Chaperones must be at least 24-years-old, per UCC’s Safe Church Conduct. Please speak with Larry Kellam or Judy Martowska if you’re interested
or would like more information.
