Children’s Summer Program
Sunday, Sep. 4, 10 am
Our summer church school program enables Central children to engage with Bible stories in new and different ways. There may be an art activity one week, an active game another week, and a dramatic retelling of the story another week. By creatively interacting with the Bible, children will experience its teachings in more personal ways.
UCC Summer Picnic
Sunday, Aug. 21, 3 to 5 pm
The entire Central congregation is invited to the first ever Rhode Island Association UCC summer picnic! There will be music and games for the whole family. And, the Rhode Island Association (formerly Rhode Island Conference) will provide dessert, water, and lemonade. If you like, bring a picnic lunch or snacks. Picnic tables are available, though you may want to bring blankets and lawn chairs. RSVP online to: tiny.cc/riuccpicnic/. Meet us at the Picnic Pavilion in Goddard Park (1095 Ives Road, Warwick).
Chapel Hall Design Committee
Thursday, July 21, 5 pm
Reimagining Chapel Hall is in the home stretch. But Central’s valiant design committee – Barry Bayon, Bill Claflin, Caroline Considine, Steve Eustis, Warren Jagger, Elizabeth Roberts, Barbara Thornton, Tom Viall, and senior minister Rebecca Spencer – labors on to ensure that construction goes as smoothly as possible and meets all expectations. They’ll get together via Zoom.
Brunch at The District
Sunday, July 17, 11:15 am
After Worship, let’s enjoy brunch together at The District (54 South Street, in Providence), a restaurant that the Providence Journal calls a “gem in the heart of the Jewelry District.” The menu (thedistrictri.com/new-page-3) features innovative brunch fare, as well as its signature pizzas – was voted Best in Rhode Island three years running. RSVP to Claudia.
Commissioning CCC Youth
Sunday, July 10, 10 am
This Sunday we will recognize and commission our high school teens before they to head out on their July 16 mission trip to Rainelle, W. Va. Commissioning not only lets Central youth know they are doing God’s work outside the walls of the church – that they are part of something bigger than themselves – it also allows our entire congregation to understand and feel connected to the work CCC Youth will be doing in northern Appalachia.
