Learn everything you need to know about Block Party Central in Chapel Hall after Worship. And if you haven’t already, please sign up to volunteer. The event – which will be Saturday, Sep. 20, from 12 noon to 3 pm – will be a fun-filled back-to-school welcome for the whole community. So save the date, spread the word, and start inviting friends now!
Central is getting a head start in planning Christmas at Central, our Annual Holiday Bazaar. The planning committee first met in July and will meet again this week in the Fireplace Room. All are welcome to attend and become active participants in this beloved fundraiser – which is not only great for holiday shopping, but also draws the community to Central and contributes to the financial support of the church.
Central is adding 48 niches to Central’s underground columbarium so it may continue to be available for the interment of ashes. Excavation will be completed this month, and landscaping will begin in September. This contemplative space will retain a green and tranquil quality – welcoming those who intentionally seek it out, as well as those passing through who may linger for a moment in meditation or prayer.

Mark your calendar: Join us in Chapel Hall for Summer MIDWEEK, a special monthly program for kids, teens, and adults alike. We will share a meal at 6 pm as usual and then turn our attention to a story of our faith from the Bible. We’ll end the evening on the West Lawn, making s’mores around the firepit. If you like, bring a chair or blanket for comfier lawn seating.
Families with children of all ages are invited to play and create at the Providence Children’s Museum. Explore the swirling ways of water, learn about plants, take a time-traveling adventure, and even create a blue-block world that goes beyond the imagination. Admission is $17 each – but only $14 for groups of five. So invite some friends, RSVP to Cristina, and let’s have some fun together! We’ll meet at the museum (100 South Street, Providence).
The Flower Committee needs your help! This committee is responsible for flower arrangements during Worship, but also has another, equally important, mission: building community! After services, committee members bring these flowers to Centralites who can no longer join us on Sundays or who have lost loved ones – a tangible reminder that they are not forgotten. Take a ride on the historic carousel, hop onboard the Carousel Express train (weather permitting), and enjoy Hasbro’s Boundless All-Abilities playground. After months of planning and preparation, CCC Youth head to West Virginia. This is a powerful opportunity for our young people to stretch their hearts, serve others, and witness the impact of faith in action. They will work hand-in-hand with people whose lives look different from theirs, but whose needs and hopes echo our own. Through service projects, prayer, and fellowship, they’ll experience what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Christ.
This is CCC Youth’s second mandatory team-building events in preparation for the Youth Service Trip to West Virginia. Please join them as they work on the building skills they’ll need: listening to instructions, using tools, and creating physical projects. And all Central members and friends – both youth and adults – are welcome to join in. Please RSVP to Cristina. We’ll meet up at Chapel Hall.
