In preparation for the Youth Service Trip to West Virginia (July 5 to 13), CCC Youth will participate in two mandatory team-building events. And all Central members and friends – both youth and adults – are welcome to join in. For Community Clean-up Day, we will partner with other local organizations to spruce up our neighborhood. Register with Cristina by Sunday, June 8. We’ll meet at Central and leave from there.
The CCC Players present “The Real Inspector Hound,” the first theatrical production on the new Chapel Hall stage – directed by Liam Newberry and featuring a cast of Centralites. This one-act play by Tom Stoppard is a parody of stereotypical parlor mysteries in the style of “The Mousetrap,” by Agatha Christie. Admission is $5. There are matinee and evening performances in Chapel Hall.
On Sunday, June 8, during Worship, Central’s Children’s Choir will present “Once Upon a Parable” with words by Grace Hawthorne and music by Terry Kirkland. The musical tells of a rich person’s preoccupation with things that don’t matter. Discovering what really counts, the rich person learns a valuable lesson, and you might, too, as our Children’s Choir tells the story through drama and music.
All are invited to a morning of fellowship and learning. Reverend Vanessa Cardinale, Associate Director of the Center for Transformational Leadership, and Jeremy Langill, Executive Minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, will lead two informative talks about the work they are doing and how we can be a part of it. Support CCC Kids in their special collection for the Egg-a-Day Childhood Nutrition Program in Haiti. This program currently provides high-quality protein (hard-boiled eggs) to 550 Haitian children in two schools. $2.84 provides one egg for one Haitian child every school day for a month! That’s less than $35 a year! Pick up a plastic egg in Chapel Hall and return it your donation
Everyone who has volunteered at Central – and there are many, many of you – is invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner as a thank-you for your hard work, helping keep Central running all year! What better way for CCC Kids and Youth – and everyone else – to celebrate spring than at the Zoo? We’ll enjoy amazing animals in the Wild Woodlands; hike the Wetlands Trail, and play in the Big Backyard. The cost for children ages 2 to 12 is $16 each; for teens and adults, $22. Scouts BSA Troop 28’s one and only annual fundraiser is here! Join them in Chapel Hall for the popular and delicious “World’s Greatest Pancake Breakfast” – and bring your appetite. They’ll be serving until 12 noon. Scouting roots grow deep at Central. We are the sponsoring organization for Cub Scout Pack 88 and Scout Troop 28, which offer young people adventure, camaraderie, and mentorship in character.
Whether you’re an aspiring golf pro or picking up a club for the first time, TopGolf is fun for all ages. Giant targets and fancy golf balls keep score, so CCC Kids and Youth can focus on having fun. Bring the whole family, if you like. Tickets are $20 each / $30 per family. The event is Sunday, Mar. 30, 2 to 4 pm, at TopGolf RI (120 Sockanosset Cross Rd., Cranston, 401-537-5140).
