Heritage Sunday
Sunday, Apr. 30, 10:30 am
Come worship with us on Heritage Sunday! It is the anniversary of Central’s first service held on the fourth Sunday of April 1851 at our original church building on Benefit Street. We’ll celebrate the sacrament of Communion, remember our founders, and honor those Central members who have enriched our community of faith for half a century or more. As we reflect on our heritage and celebrate where the church has been, let us understand how our faith shapes us today points us to the future.
Interfaith Eid Al-Fitr
Wednesday, Apr. 19, 6:30 pm
The Muslim Community of Rhode Island will once again host an Interfaith Celebration for Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr Moon-Sighting in Central’s Chapel Hall – bringing together people of all faiths and nationalities to celebrate in the spirit of peace, tolerance, and cooperation. There will be food, candy, henna, and much more. The suggested donation is $5. For more information, contact Saira Husain at 401-405-6482.
Stories of Faith
Sunday, Apr. 16, 11:30 am
Andrew Bayon, founder of The Nature Effect, is the featured speaker at Central’s 2023 Rebecca L. Spencer Series: Stories of Faith, discussing “Wisdom, Connections, and Personal Exploration.” Andy’s travels have taught him the sacredness of life and a deep reverence for our earth. He shares his experiences as an invitation to explore personal connections through a lens of awe and wonder. The series – endowed by Central member Lorne Adrain – seeks to connect Rhode Islanders through shared stories of friends, family, and faith. Join us in Chapel Hall.
Easter Exploration
Friday, Apr. 7, 11:30 am
This Good Friday event is a wonderful opportunity for children of church school age to gain a better understanding of Holy Week. Join us in the Church School Wing as we take a look at the various incidents that took place before the first Easter. The event will last until 1:30 pm – providing the perfect childcare for parents who would like to attend the Good Friday Service of Music.
Church Clean-up
Saturday, Apr. 1, 9 am
Come one, come all – young and not so young – to help prepare our church building and grounds for Holy Week. We’ll dust, rake, and polish as we deepen friendships and start new ones. Please send project ideas and supply needs to the Church Office. When you arrive, there will be coffee, doughnuts, and plenty of good cheer! We’ll work until 12 noon, so stop by when you can.
