St. Patrick’s Day Concert

Enjoy some blarney and energetic music on St. Patrick’s Day as Celtic musicians Bob Drouin and Josh Kane sing up a storm while playing a range of traditional Irish dances – including jigs, reels, and hornpipes – on fiddle, guitar, bouzouki (a long-necked lute), bodhrán (a frame drum), flute, and whistle! Join them in the Fireplace Room. Sponsored by Hamilton House.

Morehouse College Glee Club

Saturday, Mar. 18, 7 pm

In partnership with Olney Street Baptist Church, Central will host a concert by the Morehouse College Glee Club – under the direction of Dr. David E. Morrow. Founded in 1911, the Glee Club has performed at Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, funeral, President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration, Super Bowl XXVIII, 1996 Summer Olympics, and other venues around the world. The concert is free and open to the public.

Gallery Opening

Friday, March 3, 4 pm

Come, meet the artist! This month, the Gallery will showcase the work of Amy Goldstein: acrylic and watercolor paintings and charcoal drawings. A retired genetic counselor, Amy started studying watercolor several years ago at Providence’s Handicraft Club, using a paint palette inherited from her mother, and later branched out into acrylic painting and charcoal drawing. She and her husband live in Providence and have two grown children.

Sensational Science

Sensational Science is for children who are curious and like to try new things – and who are on school break. We’ll discover what happens when we combine different substances. We may fill a balloon with carbon dioxide, make slime, oobleck, or even elephant toothpaste! Space is limited, so please sign up through the church office. For more information, speak with Judy. Mozart Requiem

On Friday, Jim Silverthorn, Central’s resident cinephile, will screen “Amadeus” – 1984 Best Picture – providing entertaining background into the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart … in preparation for Sunday’s performance of Mozart’s “Requiem.” Bring hors d’oeuvres to share before the movie. On Sunday, our Choir will perform under the direction of Patrick Aiken, organist/choirmaster, with soloists and orchestra. A brief prologue precedes the
concert, and a reception follows in Chapel Hall.
